| THE COLONY NEWS | MARCH 2024 | 21 Multi-Day Excursions By Margaret Norville One of the services that The Colony provides for our residents is convenient access to group travel. If you've ever wondered what the multi-day excursions are about when you've seen them in e Colony News, I urge you to take a closer look. These trips originate at our Clubhouse and seniors comprise the majority of the groups. Hotels, sightseeing and some meals are pre-planned by Friendly Excursions, a tour company that has been in business for 50 years. Airfare and transfers are included. The pace is reasonable for the participants, and you can carve out additional free time if desired. Not only will you travel with some of your neighbors, you will also be with people from neighboring communities. Colony residents who have taken these trips have good things to say about their experiences. Alvie Kracik is especially pleased that the tour picks you up at our Clubhouse. The convenience is a big selling point for her. The highlight of her trip to New Mexico was the visit to Los Alamos and learning about the making of the atomic bomb. Her visit preceded release of the movie Oppenheimer, which made seeing it even more interesting. Jan and Bob Miller have taken multiple trips. The destination options suit their interests, and Jan had only positive things to say about the guides. When asked about her favorite experience, she chose seeing Mount Rushmore and Yellowstone Park. A number of our neighbors have already signed up for the Great Smokey Mountains, Nashville and Kentucky trip in September. If these trips interest you, you can view the company website at www.friendlyexcursions.com or talk to Kara in our Activities Office for Itineraries and prices. Some great options are coming up.
