March brings in Daylight Saving Time on Sun., March 10 at 2 am. So, spring those clocks forward one hour. So many of us look forward to this welcomed change with longer hours of light and time to recreate. So, when will California make it permanent to keep this as its standard? We are still waiting for the answer, it was to be enacted a couple of years back. Our Diamond & Divas Tribute Show on Sun., March 3 is a sell- out. It certainly is one the Recreation Department's most popular events. It brings Las Vegas to OHCC for an evening that is reasonable in price, great entertainment, and a short drive home. We hope it will be a fun-filled event for all those who attend. The "Spring Fling" is happening at the end of the month on Sat. March 30, from 10 am to 2 pm in the Overflow Parking Lot. See page 20 to find out more about all the activities including bouncy houses, petting zoo, food, hot dog lunch for $5. Our plans changed due to the Lanai Construction and egg hunts are not feasible with the limited space available to support the number of children that would attend. It is hard to believe that at one time the event was held in the Galleria area, with a performance in the Hall that all the families attended. This month the Community Services Committee is hosting a guest speaker and author, Susan Miller. She authored a book My Life Rearranged, the story of her husband's courageous battle with Alzheimer's and her experience. Her presentation is heartwarming, touching, and emotional. Susan will be here on Fri., March 29 at 10 am. Join us for light refreshments in the Mykonos Room. Seating is limited. The 40th Anniversary Plans continue. The Committee has accomplished the amazing feat of coordinating the photo taking, including pets, in a short period of time. They will continue with their plans as the month of May is fast approaching. Flyers of the event will be found within upcoming publications. We are expecting our part-time Facilities position to be filled on weekends and that is good news. As the warmer weather and longer days approach, the calendar begins to pop and the need for all hands- on deck is crucial! Happy Patrick's Day! If you are lucky enough to be Irish… you are lucky enough. Get out and enjoy the longer daylight hours! There is a whole lot of living to do.
