Table Tennis
Do Dues Day turned out to be a roaring success with more
than 40 new members signing up, bringing the total Table Tennis
club membership to 108. It was exciting to see such a strong
interest to join the "newest club at OHCC."
We are working on creative ways to better accommodate
this larger group of TT enthusiasts with only three tables and
relatively meager space currently available in Mykonos Room.
The hope is that with completion of the Lanai, additional play
time and space in Abravanel Hall will become available to add
additional TT tables. In the meantime, we may try and schedule
play at different skill levels on different days.
The 2023 U.S. Open TT Championships were held in late
December in Ontario, CA. Competing from OHCC were Rick
Goodin and Martin Sundel. We are proud to announce that Rick
won his opening matches handily but ran into tough competition
after that. Martin went on a winning spree and as usual collected
a variety of medals in different categories: Gold in 80+ Men's
Doubles, and Silver in Singles narrowly losing to the former Thai
national champion, and Bronze in Men's 75+ and 70+ Doubles.
Way to go Marty!
The OHCC TT Club meets for play in the Mykonos Room every
Mon., Wed., Fri., Sat. and Sun. from 1 to 3:30 pm. New members
