| OHCC LIVING | MARCH 2024 | 13 Finally, It's March Again! The month of March represents new growth. Its flower, the Daffodil, symbolizes forgiveness, trust, honesty and true love. Many of you may remember Fergus O'Leary the Leprechaun, better known as Fergie, who took up residency in our OHCC Library in 2021. He was hiding among the books and sleeping in the drawers under the paper clips and post-its. I discovered him one Sunday sitting by the fireplace enjoying a book. The following year he was still around, hiding and singing some of his favorite Irish songs. He was a real trickster, sometimes disappearing for weeks at a time. He refused to show himself unless I took an oath that I believed in Leprechauns, and that I would never capture him so he could keep his pot of gold. I agreed and we became immediate friends. Several days ago, he appeared to me again sitting by the same fireplace reading aloud, "The Truth about Leprechauns," and singing "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling." He explained how he loved the warmth of the room, the smell of the books, and the volumes of exciting literature. He could hardly contain himself as he blurted out the news he gathered. He left his signed check made out to OHCC Library at the front desk and became an "official" member and wanted to let all the new residents know what a great place the library was to make new friends, find wonderful books, or just relax by the fireplace and chat about life. He is now excited that the staff has decided to send out a survey to find out how to better serve our members. Of course, I had to promise that each member would take an oath not to steal his pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. He carefully answered the following questions and now he wants you to do the same. To Better Serve You Survey Please email your responses to President/Book Buyer Jean Hefler at jeanhefler@hotmail.com 1.
