36 | OHCC LIVING | MARCH 2024 | Woodchucks This month we would like to celebrate our spirit of service to OHCC. Our Woodchuck's Club was founded by a handful of your neighbors who had the foresight to create what has become a major asset to our community. To those Woodchucks who came before us, we thank you for your innovation. Many of us joined Woodchucks so we could donate our woodworking equipment, free up space in our garages, and join like- minded men and women in the fellowship of creating sawdust. But our woodshop offers much more than that alone. The real bonus of being a Woodchuck is the pride of helping others inside OHCC and beyond. We see the joy in the faces of the children of Marines at Camp Pendleton from our annual Toy Drives. It's an honor (and fun as well) to build toys for these families who keep our country strong and safe. The response from our neighbors in the form of donations and gifts is another joy to behold every year. While we often use the woodshop to check off our 'Honey-Do' lists and work on personal projects, we also lend a helping hand to our community. Clubs like the Chorale, Card Clubs, Racquet Club, and Birdwatchers just to name a few, as well as the HOA and Clubhouse have benefited from our efforts over the years. Finally, we wish to thank our friends and neighbors who help make our shop possible. Recycling your CRV beverage containers at the bins near the HOA office helps us continue our efforts. And don't forget we also offer free window security rods. Just fill out the form at the HOA. If you or someone you know would like to join in our fun and camaraderie, stop by the Clubhouse desk for the membership form. After paying the dues, you will get a link to a couple of online videos to watch and a waiver to sign. Your Badge will be delivered by a smiling Woodchuck and you will be able to use the shop at your leisure. Hope to see you there! Written by Larry See Inspiration Hill As we walk the trail at Inspiration Hill, we are always impressed by the varied community inspirations as expressed on the Donor Bricks. The trail begins by honoring our pioneer OHCC Founders, and continues with those who so bravely served us. There are bricks honoring family members, beloved pets, and favorite universities. What is your inspiration? The HOA continues to take orders for your own personalized bricks. Fill out an order form at the HOA office, and include a check for $75. Your inspiration brick will help line the trail to the top of the hill!
