38 | LIFE IN SOLERA | MARCH 2024 | March is named for the Roman god of war, Mars. Did you know that in early Roman days, March was actually the first month of the calendar? There were only 10 months in the calendar in those days. January and February were not part of the calendar. They were known as "Winter." As March brings the first day of spring (March 19) it's the start of new beginnings. March is also National Craft Month. It was created to encourage people to explore their creative side, try something new, and share their crafty creations with others. Something different is always fun, so this month we will be making 3 fun cards. I design, cut, do most of the stamping and put everything into individual kits. You can come to class or just purchase a kit. With advance notice, my kits are complete with step-by-step instructions and loads of pictures. As always, my class is the third Friday of the month. This month it's March 15. If this is your first time, the cost is still only $10. We meet in the Arts & Crafts Room starting at 1 pm. I am taking sign-ups for my all-day Spring Fling Card Art class being held on Sat., May 25 in Oakmont 1 and 2. Applications are in the Mail Room as well. Please bring a fast-drying white glue (I like Tombow with the green lids) and small sharp scissors. If you don't know where to buy Tombow glue don't worry, I will have a supply on hand to purchase for $3.75. I buy in bulk to give you the lowest price possible.
