| LIFE IN SOLERA | MARCH 2024 | 3 FROM THE BOARD By Marcia Casem There are many activities and meetings being held at the Clubhouse throughout the week. Most of you hear about the activities which are organized by the Recreation Director and the Recreation Activity Advisory Committee. The calendar and list for the clubs and groups are in the Life in Solera magazine. Most residents know how to show up and join the clubs and groups. However, do you know about the advisory committees? Advisory Committees are a very important part of our community. There are two different types of committees. There are two Standing Committees. These two committees are required in accordance with our CC&Rs: Design Review Committee (DRC) and Finance Committee (FC). The DRC's purpose and scope are to review all lot landscape plans and requests for new construction or alterations of the existing structures and landscape design. Desired changes must comply with the design guidelines and be approved by the DRC. The FC's purpose and scope are to have general control of the financial policy of the Association, subject to Board approval, including ways and means for obtaining funds necessary to meet the authorized budget for carrying out the work of the Association. They are instrumental in developing and preparing an annual budget which is presented in April to the Board. There are also five other advisory committees: Common Area Landscape Advisory Committee (CALAC), Communication and Technology Advisory Committee (CTAC), Decorating Advisory Committee (DAC), New Resident Welcome Advisory Committee (NRWAC) and the Recreation Activities Advisory Committee (RAAC). The Board of Directors created these committees to advise and inform the Board members in their particular areas throughout the years. CALAC's purpose and scope is to advise and make recommendations on landscape design and evaluation of common area maintenance. CTAC's purpose and scope is to optimize communication to and from its members to provide important, helpful, and enriching information to all. They developed our new website www.soleraovg.com was launched Feb. 26, 2024. DAC's purpose and scope is to decorate the clubhouse for holidays and seasonal changes. They also retrieve and return decorations to and from the storage unit. NRWAC's purpose and scope is to welcome new residents into the community and provide them with useful information that will make their transition into Solera a pleasant experience. RAAC's purpose and scope is to advise and make recommendations related to social and recreational activities for the community, and to plan and execute Board-approved activities, working closely with the Recreation Director. If you are interested in becoming a member of an advisory committee you must be an owner resident and complete a Volunteer Interest form which is located on our website or available in the office.
