| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | APRIL 2024 | 3 Spring is in the air! It's a time of renewal and growth and Sun Lakes is fully immersed in perhaps the biggest renewal and growth construction/renovation project since the 1990s. The Lounge expansion is underway bringing a whole new look, a redefined function and much more area in which to achieve this. Here's some of the things to get excited about: • Seating in the Lounge area will increase from the 47 that is allowed now, to more than double that number. • Live music is coming back and along with it a state-of-the-art sound system that will encompass the Lounge area, Restaurant and Veranda. • Seating arrangements will be flexible depending upon what's happening in the lounge. When there's music, seating will realign to accommodate more dance space. When there isn't, seating will be focused on areas to eat, drink and socialize. • The bar area will also offer more bar seating with a reconfiguration of the area around it. • The dance floor will expand to triple or quadruple its current size. All the carpet and flooring will be replaced with a floor that can accommodate dancing anywhere — again, giving us lots of flexibility. • As it does now, the lounge will serve lunch and dinner throughout the week and weekends. • The Restaurant is changing size and shape and will be used exclusively for dinner on Friday and Saturday nights with a focus on upscale dining. During the rest of the week, the Restaurant space, which can seat over 100 people, will be used for catered events, private banquets, and even meeting space. There is an air-wall running down the middle of this space which can be closed to create two separate areas, both of which can seat up to 50 people. Meeting space is at a premium and having two more meeting rooms roughly the size of the Multipurpose Room will be wonderful. All these updates and innovations will help cut the losses in the Restaurant and get Food & Beverage back on budget. During the renovation, the Sandwedge Bar & Grill will be your go- to for food and drink. We are improving and increasing the lighting outside as well as expanding the parking area to accommodate you. A Renovation Menu is now in place to satisfy everyone's tastebuds during this transformation. Spring brings with it a sense of excitement, of rebirth and new beginnings. Sun Lakes is growing not only physically with this renovation but intellectually and emotionally with the new direction of 1) governance by the Board and 2) management by the management company. We continue to attract new homeowners and the Marketing Committee is designing an online "virtual" brochure, available to the public, that will highlight all that makes Sun Lakes Country Club magnificent. The motto is, "For some it's the lifestyle, for others it's the people." What is it for you? Were you drawn here because of the amenities, the beauty of the grounds, and the lifestyle, or did you come here to be close to friends and family? Perhaps it's both, which really is the secret as to why our community thrives. When we are clear on our vision, work together, and make choices to support that vision, then we strengthen, expand and reinvigorate the spirit of Sun Lakes. We can't control what goes on outside our walls, but we can choose the lifestyle we want to experience within our private oasis — to feel safe, enjoy the camaraderie of friends and neighbors, stay active, laugh, learn, and enjoy our country club way of life. "There is no power for change greater than a community discovering what it cares about." ~ Margaret Wheatley Bob Walter, Randy Robbins, Beverly Simmons, Lori Hazelton, Gary Burkel From the Master Board
