With great anticipation, we proudly introduce our April speaker: Robert Ruseckas. A resident of Sun Lakes, Robert is celebrated for his fascinating presentations, promising an exciting journey through the mysterious world of rare and exotic plants from across the globe. With each appearance, he consistently mesmerizes us with his diverse range of interesting topics and breathtaking photo collections. Prepare to be immersed in the vibrant world of flora as we eagerly await another enchanting afternoon in his company. As the chill of winter gradually gives way to the gentle warmth of spring, gardeners everywhere eagerly anticipate the arrival of spring, a time of rebirth and renewal both in nature and in spirit. For gardening enthusiasts, spring represents a golden opportunity to infuse their passion for gardening with the joy and symbolism of the season. Did you know that the Easter Lily (Lilium longiflorum) symbolizes purity, innocence, and the resurrection of Jesus Christ in Christian tradition? Emerging as a favored decoration during Victorian-era celebrations, this elegant flower originates from the southern islands of Japan and was introduced to the United States in the late 19th century. With its exquisite trumpet-shaped white blooms and enchanting fragrance, it remains a cherished symbol of the season. What to plant in April: 1. Plant summer-flowering bulbs such as dahlias, gladiolus, and lilies. 2. Consider perennial flowers like peonies, bleeding hearts, and coral bells. 3. Plant warm-season annuals like marigolds, petunias, and impatiens. 4. Don't forget about flowering vegetables! Plant ornamental edibles like nasturtiums, borage, and pansies to add both beauty and flavor to your garden. As you step out into your garden this month, let the sights, scents, and sounds of nature envelop you. Embrace the joy and peacefulness that come from connecting with the earth and nurturing new life. Whether you're tending to your plants, listening to the birdsong, or simply basking in the warmth of the sun, there's something truly magical about being outdoors. Happy gardening.
