66 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | APRIL 2024 We had quite the slug-fest in February! Several players were scoring competitively close during this month, but Frank Turner managed to maintain the lead and come out as champion for the month. Frank is one savvy and talented player, and a super nice guy. Once again, Reggie Fuqua has emerged as the runner up. He nearly caught Frank at the finish line, but Frank got there first. Next month, Mr. Fuqua … we'll see. Shout-outs to Pete Antoine and Frank Turner for regularly providing the soulful and rousing music at our gaming sessions. The music truly adds to the mellow vibes. The Dominoes Club plays every Wednesday and Friday from 6 until 9 pm in the Game Room. We welcome more players, whether new to the game or experienced, to come out and join us for an enjoyable time "slamming bones." Novice players are encouraged to come out Wednesdays and Fridays from 5 to 6 pm to learn the game. For more information, contact Reggie at (951) 743-3594 or Jesse at (951) 769-2035. ~ Roxanne Williams Hearts We are looking for players, substitute players, and people who are interested in learning the game. I am happy to teach anyone who wishes to learn to play Pan, either individually or in a small group — your home or mine. Pan is a card game, much on the order of Gin in some respects, that is played with up to eight people at a table. It is played by both men and women, so all are welcome. The game is played during the day or in the evening in The Lodge or at a private home. If you are interested, please contact Linda Mendelson at (951) 941-9100 or email Goldtoy@earthlink.net, and I will answer any questions you may have. As with all card games, it is played with both skill and luck. ~ Linda Mendelson Pan We play Hearts every Tuesday at 6 pm in The Lodge Game Room. We welcome new players. If you don't know how to play, we'll be happy to teach you. Seating is done by random card draw. Try your luck at getting all the hearts plus the queen of spades. That takes 26 points off of your score, or if you choose, adds 26 points to all the other players at the table. The jack of diamonds takes 10 points off of your score. The lowest score wins. It is lots of fun and we look forward to seeing you on Tuesday evenings. ~ Lynette Smilac, smilac1954@gmail.com Phase 10 We hope to see more fun-loving card players to join us on Tuesday, April 9 and Tuesday, April 23 from 2 to 4 pm in The Lodge Game Room. There have been the usual faithfuls, but would love to have more join us to play this fun game. However, due to the low turnout, we are considering canceling this event. We will see how it goes in the upcoming months. The goal is to complete the 10 phases that are established for the game one round at a time. These phases include 'sets' of cards (all the same number) and 'runs' (cards in a sequence). There are also wild cards and skip cards during play. I should be back playing again. I have missed you all and the fun of winning or (ha) usually losing. If you have any questions, please contact Marianne Bugni at (920) 517-2739 or email lamarib77@gmail.com. ~ Marianne Bugni Dominoes Congratulations to Frank Turner (le) Dominoes champion, and Reggie Fuqua, runner-up for February.
