8 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | APRIL 2024 What a great, yet uncertain, month April tends to be. In years past we've even been snowed out of our Garage Sale when we used to have some of it in The Lodge parking lot. Those were fun days filled with unexpected excitement. Hopefully this year, the Four Seasons Community Garage Sale will go off as planned. The date for this favorite treasure hunt (the garage sale) is Saturday, April 6 from 8 am to 2 pm. There will be maps available at the various facilities as well as the front gate on the morning of the event. We don't give the maps out ahead of time, because unfortunately in past years, we actually had resident cars parked in front of garage sale homes in the wee hours of the morning, causing single residents to feel uneasy and vulnerable. Feel free to let me know your most incredible find. I'll share it in the October Breeze and it will serve as an incentive for the fall Garage Sale. Good luck on the hunt! Friday, April 12 will be another one of the wonderful Westbrook- hosted dances. This one is themed, "Dancing at the Movies." They will be playing tunes that came from the movies, everything from Twist to Electric Slide, Swing to Waltz, as well as just "Rock-N-It." All the fun starts at 6 pm in The Lodge Ballroom and everyone is welcome. There is no charge to attend. Feel free to bring your dinner and favorite beverages. On Friday, April 19, we will be recognizing all of our incredible volunteers that support the Association. That includes our committee and Board members, our librarians and class instructors (who volunteer their time). It really is a labor of love by these selfless residents. People don't often make the connection that the time put in by Board members, is likened to the offer, "How would you like to run a multi-million-dollar corporation with no compensation for multiple years at a time?" The number of hours spent by the Board members and committee members in service of this association is staggering. The least we can do is to show appreciation for these people with a delicious luncheon and their very own comedy show … since, of course, volunteerism is no joke! Please help us to offer kudos to these extraordinary people when you see them. They deserve as many accolades as we can give them! Karaoke in April is on Saturday, April 20 at 5:30 pm in the Ballroom. Be ready to impress your neighbors with your favorite song and celebrity vibe. Make the night even more special by bringing in your favorite snacks and drinks. It's always a lot of fun! Finally, back by popular demand is our Shred-It event! This is on Saturday, April 27 from 11 am to 2 pm at The Lodge. Residents are allowed to drive through and have shredded any sensitive documents that you may need to get rid of. There is not a limit to how much you can bring; typically, it would be a box or bag or two. Please note that we are only hiring one Shred-It truck, so when that truck is full, the event is done. We have been amazed in past years at how much paper that truck can hold and we have never had to turn anyone away. Just know that it is possible, so try to be considerate regarding the volume of documents that you bring. There is no charge, so come on down. Happy April, and I'll see you around The Lodge! ~ Cindy Graves Activities Director's Report
