| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | APRIL 2024 | 25 Four Seasons Creative Group THE CREATIVE SPOTLIGHT: LARRY FOSTER I have been interested in art ever since I can remember. From grade school through college it was always my favorite subject and what I excelled in most. Always encouraged by my parents, siblings and friends I enjoyed drawing, painting and later on photography. I attended Southern Illinois University Carbondale graduating from their prestigious Commercial Graphic Design course then taking my skills to advertising agencies in So. California. This was all before computers entered the picture so all artwork was done by hand using pencils, pens, brushes and airbrush. I soon started doing freelance artwork for various clients designing brochures, business cards and logos. I had been hearing rumors of artwork being done on computers and after doing some research I bought an Apple Macintosh computer and learned how to do artwork on the Mac with Adobe Illustrator, Pagemaker and Photoshop software. It opened up a whole new world and I went back to school to learn all about computer graphics. I felt fortunate as I had a foot in both worlds taking everything I learned about creating art the traditional way and using new technology to help generate it. It gave me an advantage over someone just learning how to create computer generated art with no traditional art background. I also took several photography classes learning how to use a 35mm camera as well as darkroom development techniques. I retired several years ago but still enjoy taking pictures and sketching out a logo or two. The Art Group: Royce Jerman offers "Painting Pals" on Tuesdays from 10 am to 1 pm and "Beading Buddies" on Wednesdays from 10 am to 1 pm in the The Lodge. Please come join me on Mon., April 15 at 5 pm for our "Paint and Sip" class! I envision this being a relaxing, fun night where you will complete an acrylic painting, and I will guide you through the process. The class fee is $35, which includes all supplies - you just bring your wine (or beverage of choice) and an open mind. We will publish a new exhibit on April 15 and on the 15th of EVERY month. This website gallery features ONE creative work in EACH of the categories per month, per person.
