Solera Rememberance To have your loved one remembered in the Life in Solera magazine, please submit a recent photo and an obituary (maximum 400 words) to lifeinsolera@yahoo.com no later than the 8th of the month for the following month's publication. Ingo Dolleschel was born in 1937 in Germany and passed away peacefully February 23, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He will be buried at Riverside National Veterans Cemetery. Ingo came to the United States in 1956 from Bavaria in southern Germany with his mother, where he fled from Prussia (now Poland) during WWII. He married Isolde in 1961 and later was the proud father of two daughters, a son-in-law, and was Opa to two grandchildren. Ingo served in the Navy for six years. He enlisted in the naval reserves in anticipation of being drafted. He then proudly served on active duty for two years, including six months on an air craft carrier, the U.S.S. Ranger. He and wife Isolde lived on Whidbey Island adjacent to where he was stationed in Washington. They then returned to Pasadena with their first child on the way, where he completed his service in the naval reserves. He learned the welding trade upon arrival in the U.S. and became a journeyman sheet metal craftsman of industrial stainless- steel kitchens. He also taught welding evenings at the Friedman Occupational Center for Adults in Los Angeles for 15 years. Ingo was active his entire life — swimming, diving, skiing, bowling, and golfing. He spent 30 years as a volunteer ski patrolman and instructor with the National Ski Patrol. He was a very good bowler in a weekly bowling league for over 15 years with wife Isolde. He golfed weekly as long as he could for 50+ years, which was cut short by both COVID and his COPD. Ingo enjoyed his years as a member of the Los Serranos and Solera Men's Golf Clubs and was a decade-long member at Tukwet Canyon Golf Course. Traveling, summer camping, and winter ski trips were also big parts of his family life. Annual camping trips to the Colorado River with dear friends and their families was always great fun, including water skiing. He and his family traveled extensively through most of western and eastern Europe including his birth village (in what is now Poland), and China. Ingo will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife, Isolde, his daughters Veronica and Robin, son- in-law Dave, and his granddaughter Alexandra. He was preceded in death by his grandson Reed. Ingo's memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends. | LIFE IN SOLERA | APRIL 2024 | 15
