| LIFE IN SOLERA | APRIL 2024 | 29 This group is made up of generally men, but women are always welcome. Our focus is on conversation and friendship. We meet every Wednesday in the Clubhouse between 8 and 9 am in the Arts & Crafts Room. It is typically a group of 10 to 20 people. We are led by a facilitator who ensures that everyone will have the opportunity to talk and encourages conversation. We have very interesting and diverse conversations. There are countless benefits you'll enjoy by joining this group, and they can vary from person to person. For more information about The Coffee Group, please contact George Vawter at (909) 253-3318 or via email hbwisenheimer1@yahoo.com. Come and check us out, and feel free to bring your favorite coffee mug! COFFEE GROUP The Solera Sippers have just begun another year of fun and fellowship. In March, we elected our new Executive Advisory Committee to serve us for the coming year which runs April 1 through March 31. Your officers are: President, Dave James; Vice President, Mary Lou Noll; Secretary, Diane Coffman; and Treasurer, Gary Stoh. Membership is still only $20 pp and is a real value. Your membership fees go directly back to you. Many events throughout the year cost more than what we charge for them. A perfect example is our upcoming Italian dinner event for April. Cost per person is only $12, yet the catering cost alone is over $17 pp. This does not include other costs like decorations, tablecloths, etc. Another example of how membership dues are used is our "free" events. We try to have a no-cost event for our members each year, again funded by the membership fees collected. We are planning to have one later this year. We are always looking for members to join our Advisory Committee. This committee meets the first Tuesday of the month to plan out the events every year. If interested, please email Dave James at SoleraSipperDave@gmail.com. We'll invite you to a meeting so you can get a "taste" of how we manage the club. Wine fun fact: In ancient Greece, wine was mixed with seawater to create a unique beverage called "posca." Posca was presumed to offer health benefits. Athletes (in particular) liked this stuff as it not only quenched their thirst, but provided minerals and electrolytes, thanks to the seawater content. It was an essential part of their athletic culture as posca had invigorating properties and kept athletes hydrated during strenuous activities. Membership is required if you are a Solera resident. For membership or other information, please contact Gary Stoh at (951) 845-1981 or garymstoh@aol.com.
