8 | LIFE IN SOLERA | APRIL 2024 | Maintaining a beautiful community is very important. When visitors or prospective buyers enter the community, first impression is important. One thing that they notice is the condition of the houses. Many residents have painted their homes with the available color pallettes. Visitors have noticed the variety of colors. Some residents prefer not to paint. Some of the these homes look 'dirty.' Power washing the original color will refresh the appearance. Code enforcement does take notice of a home's appearance. Homes that are 'dirty,' have splashes of different shades, have garage panels of different shades or other discoloration, are receiving violations. Curb appeal is also important. Some homes have been highlighted in Life in Solera. There are many more homes that have curb appeal. The photos have shown a variety of landscaping ideas. For those who are considering low maintenance, you must have 50 percent green and 50 percent hardscape. Hopefully you have noticed the types of plants residences have used. Plants that spread are great! New landscaping projects have a two year growth period. Plants in pots are not considered as they do not spread. Even with hardscape, weeds will sprout. Landscaping that does not meet the 50/50 or has an abundance of weeds, do receive violations. The violation process is time consuming! Just because you see a property that looks bad, you don't know where the homeowner is in the violation process. Responsible homeowners correct their violation quickly. Other homeowners drag their feet and let the process/violations accumulate. Clean-up/fix-up of violated properties does not happen overnight because of due process.
