Like so many things, those days are gone forever. Do you understand the new bulbs? It has taken me quite a while to understand them and I still need a refresher before I purchase one. Here is a chart from an Internet article that may help you. e brightness of the bulb is measured in Lumens. e other part is color temperature. is is the degree of Kelvin. It refers to the light produced. Kelvins tell you how yellow or blue the bulb appears. Here is a simple Kelvin chart. Choosing the bulb just right for your house becomes a real chore these days. ere are quite a few articles on the Internet to research. Some chart information is slightly different than others, but they are all informative. e reason the ACC is bringing up this matter is due to the substantial number of complaints we've received about lights from your neighbor's home shining into your living rooms or bedrooms. Mostly, this refers to lights on the outside of your home. Please be considerate of your neighbor when choosing the bulb wattage and Kelvin and the color of the light given off. We can light up our outdoors with a light that is not a bright, bright white. Also, if your neighbor's light is causing you stress, they may not be aware of how far the light is shining. A first step might be to ask if they know. Just remember, a little neighborly courtesy goes a long way. ARCHITECTURAL CONTROL By Gloria Brosky
