| THE COLONY NEWS | APRIL 2024 | 13 ACCESS CONTROL & SAFETY By Kathleen Ricketts e Role of Our Gate Attendant and Community Patrol Contractor e Colony is a master-planned, age-restricted gated community, which adds a level of privacy and controls access to the community. Residents have the convenience of entry via three gates, but all guests and vendors must enter through the Main Gate located at 24200 Jackson Avenue. e two other resident gates are at Nutmeg and California Oaks. While these gates are not staffed, both are equipped with video cameras that record all vehicle entries into the community 24/7. During specified holidays, guests are allowed to enter the Nutmeg gate provided they have a special pass issued by the HOA management team. When that happens, an attendant will be assigned to that gate. AlliedUniversal is contracted with the Association, so what exactly does that mean? Steven Doyle, AlliedUniversal's Director of Security, says "Our main function is to observe and report to the HOA office." e services include a uniformed gate attendant at the main gate, a Post Commander, patrol staff, and the Director of Security. Our community is patrolled and staffed by security 24 hours, seven days a week. Doyle points out that his team logs 3,000 to 3,500 miles each month patrolling e Colony. Welfare and vacation checks are carried out and reported to the Property Services Department. (It is important to understand that they do not enter residents' homes.) "When there is a request for a welfare check, the first thing we do is check for their emergency contact person in our system and 911 is called," says Doyle. "We deal with a lot of improper gate procedures and parking violations," says Doyle, who adds that his team also patrols the Clubhouse and Pool area. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, there is an AlliedUniversal employee assigned to the Pool area on the weekends and holidays. Any rule violations or other suspicious activity in or around the Pool area is reported to the Property Services Department. e AlliedUniversal team also responds to suspicious activity, excessive noise, barking dogs and solicitors. AlliedUniversal personnel do not carry firearms. "If you feel threatened, always call 911 first", says Doyle. When emergency services (police, fire, EMS) enter e Colony, a Community Patrol Officer will follow them to the site where the emergency is located. is is done for the sole purpose of properly documenting the incident and reporting it to the Property Services Department. Here are some helpful numbers to keep handy: Gatehouse – AlliedUniversal Team: 951-677-0238 Emergency: 911 Murrieta Police and Fire Non-Emergency Dispatch: 951-696-3615 SECURITY STATISTICS: SECURITY STATISTICS: For February 2024, there were a total of 19,353 gate entries recorded consisting of guests, recreational vehicles, vendors, and golfers.
