e monthly tournament for February was washed out due to the "Pineapple Express" that hit the coast of California with a vengeance. Our scheduled event, the "A & B Format" competition, was canceled well before the shotgun start. During our banquets we present many awards from our competition for "Closest the Pin" for individuals as well as teams. Tournament Winners from first to fourth may comprise individual flight team winners. e only award that does not include a prize is "e DARWIN." is award is presented to players who deviate from acceptable golf etiquette before, aer or during the tournaments. Darwin Awards: It has been quoted many times, "No crisis should go to waste." In February, a weather crisis arrived at the Cal Oaks Golf Course that shut down our Jack and Jill tournament as well as our evening banquet. I, however, was not to be denied that announcement. So, I thought to myself, "self, what better time than now to introduce the new Jack and Jill family member who will be at our banquets as a permanent fixture and 'Perpetual Trophy' awarded as the 'DARWIN Award Trophy' for banquet night?" Next Contest: Our next contest is set for ursday, April 11, and will be our "Pick Your Own Foursome." As with all Jack and Jill events, you DO NOT have to be a member of either the Men's or Women's Golf Clubs to play. Just pick up your sticks and join us for the fun and friendly competition. Our March tournament was an 18-hole scramble with the back nine ladies. e weather was wonderful, and our games were such fun for those who played. Later, we enjoyed a delicious luncheon served by V!s Bistro consisting of corned beef sandwiches and all the trimmings to celebrate St. Patty's Day. Our monthly high handicap winner was Barbara Keen and low handicap, Anita Hoetker. Congratulations to them for winning two months in a row! Our annual pizza luncheon will be next month, which is always an enjoyable day. We have many events each week, and our monthly lunch meeting is such a nice social, and is informative, too. If you are interested in learning more about our club, please call our Membership Chair, Peggy Clendenen, at 951-696-2169. I hope you will think about joining us. See you on the links!
