Have Fun and Make Friends While Line Dancing
By Charles Cashen and Crystal LaGrange, Residents
Are you looking for a fun way to exercise, meet new people, and
have fun? Then the Line Dance Group
may be just the thing for you. We are
growing and always welcoming new
members. In fact, when The Lodge
reopens we will have extended hours
to include a Tuesday beginner's group
starting at 5 pm.
Back in 2022, this group started
with the idea to promote exercise,
balance, and memory. We have
realized since then that line dancing
also helps f lexibility, reduces stress,
diminishes depression, increases
energy, and helps in weight loss. Most
importantly, we have fun, we laugh,
and we make new friends. Even the
most experienced line dancers make mistakes now and then, and
we laugh at what we call "freestyle" dancing. Our motto is, "No
dancer is left behind." We have an excellent group of experienced
dancers who take the time for newcomers to feel welcome and learn
the easiest dances first and continue with the other beginner-level
dances as they progress.
We would love to fill the ballroom
with new dancers so come join us
for a class. You can come solo or
with a partner. You can come with
experience or as a total beginner. All
are welcome. Again, the beginner's
class will be on Tuesday evening
from 5 to 6 pm and then we'll
continue from 6 to 7 pm as our
regular dance time. We also have a
Sunday class from 2 to 3 pm.
Safety in dance is also a big
concern for us. We always encourage
alternative steps if a turn is too fast or
difficult. We have chairs for resting
and taking water breaks as needed.
We have learned over 15 dances to date and are still having fun.
Come to the Ballroom on Tuesday nights and check out the line
dancing group. We would love to have you join us. It's free, it's fun,
so please come and bring a friend.
