16 SOLERA DIAMOND VALLEY | APRIL 2024
By Pam Yang
I was reading a book the other day in which I came across a
Burma Shave ditty. This quickly took me back to my childhood
and remembered one we drove by whenever we were coming from the west
to my hometown in Michigan. Never pass, on a hill or slope, unless you
have, a periscope… Burma Shave I decided to text my brothers and asked if
they remembered it. The younger one remembered its existence, but not the
ditty. The older didn't remember that particular Burma Shave placement, but did
remember another. When I quizzed him as to the ditty, he replied… Around the
curve, Lickety split, da da da, da da da… Burma Shave. So, I quickly "Googled"
the beginning, and texted back… Beautiful car, Wasn't it… Burma Shave. Ta
Da! This got my brain in action and I remembered… Passed on a hilltop, At
75. So again I "Googled." Hardly a driver, Is still alive, Who passed on a hilltop,
At 75. I hope this gets your brain action going and you remember favorites
from your childhood.
