| THE COLONY NEWS | MAY 2024 | 3 Board of Directors Message: Mother's Day Gate Passes From the Desk of Del Mitchum, Director To relieve traffic congestion at the Jackson gate on Mother's Day, May 12, you may obtain a special one day entry pass in advance for your guest(s). The benefit of this special entry pass is that it can be used at the Nutmeg resident entrance between the hours of 10 am and 3 pm on Mother's Day, as The Colony will be staffing additional security personnel at that gate. Once your guest presents their pass to the officer at the gate, they will be promptly admitted into the community. These gate passes will also be accepted at the Main Gate on Jackson Ave. throughout the entire day. Directions to all gates will be printed on the back of the pass. The special one day passes are available at the HOA Office, Monday through Friday, from 9 am to 4 pm until May 10. The only information required will be guest(s) name and resident name and address. Staff will fill in the information on the passes and give it to you to provide to your guest(s). It is recommended that you mail out the passes as soon as possible to ensure your visitors receive them on time. As a reminder, please urge your guests to use the alternate entrance at the Nutmeg Gate to avoid the crowd at the Main Gate. Wishing you all a Happy Mother's Day! I am in my 24th year here in The Colony, and I still consider the move here to be one of my best decisions ever. I have seen a lot of changes, but the Colony-Strong spirit still remains as a constant. The friendly attitude is prevalent from waving to people as you pass on the street to meeting new people at one of the MANY events in the Auditorium. I have been honored to serve on the HOA Board to help guide us through a remodel and ongoing litigation these many years. I really appreciate the diverse backgrounds of my fellow Board members and the expertise they each bring to our meetings. I hope this May issue finds you well and loving life here in The Colony. There are so many activities available, and I hope you find some that fit your lifestyle. There are numerous committees that provide opportunities for you to possibly become involved in the operation of The Colony.
