30 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | MAY 2024 | Golf Cart Club: The Club's next parade will be on the 4th of July! Details will be provided in future editions of the Herald and through Tracie's blasts and PR re the 4th of July festivities. Flag Angels: As many of you know, the term "Flag Angels" came from a resident who was praising the efforts of the 20 residents who place flags in front of every home and Four Seasons and World Cup (about 1,500 flags) on 11 special days. That is about 16,500 flag placings a year! I thought that it would be a nice idea to introduce these "angels" to the Herald readers over the next few months. If you know or recognize these angels, give them a well-deserved "thank you" the next time you see them. This month, Dave and Char Weakly will be highlighted. They have been placing flags for almost 20 years. Dave also often leads the cart parades. They have been residents of Four Seasons since January 2004 and moved here from East Hemet. Their route covers the Legends West Area. The next flag day will be Memorial Day! I have had two more volunteers to serve as backup Flag Angels: Denise Levesque and Linda Wetter. Welcome! Up to now Cheryle Patterson has done ALL the subbing! It's great to have someone who is willing to step in when an Angel cannot post flags (sick, vacations, etc.). If you would be willing to help, please call me (951-973-4149), or email me at mikemcla43@aol.com). ~ Mike McLaughlin Golf Cart Club We are fast approaching our second year in play with 33 members as a club in Four Seasons. The Club plays singles and doubles formats, once a week on Wednesday morning starting at 8 or 9 am. We are thinking about playing later in the day in the spring and fall. Two weeks ago, we had the unthinkable (for seniors) happen. During one of our games, Cynthia Daly threw four cornholes (bag goes through the hole on the board) in one frame! She was financially rewarded and gets the look of jealousy from all our players (especially the guys). Our main emphasis is having fun, which in our opinion constitutes a lot of old folks playing together and LOAO. If you have any questions or just want to give it a try, contact Beth Flanagan at bflana603@gmail.com or (858) 334-9779. Cornhole Sandy O'Connor, standing with her husband John, had a four-bagger in our matches on April 3. Our congrats and a $10 reward go out to the young lady! Walking Can Keep Your Brain in Shape - From a My Fitness Pal article: "Exercise could help increase brain volume and blood flow, which appear to have an impact on the executive functions of the brain, including attention span, focus and memory. More active or physically fit individuals perform better on tasks involving executive functioning compared to sedentary ones." Now is a good time to start moving. Walk Fit is a good way to start. The class consists of nine different Leslie Sansone "Walk Fit" DVDs. The easy-to-follow routines are set to music with varying tempos. The complete class is four miles, but you can come late or leave early to shorten your routine and work at your own level. A few of the DVDs incorporate resistance bands (always optional). Some class members add light hand weights for added strength training. Stop by and give us a try. New members are always welcome, both men and women. Join us Mon., Wed., and Fri., 7:45 to 8:45 am in the Lodge Ballroom. The class is free. For more information, contact Karen Tuvim at (316) 260-0847. Walk Fit
