| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | MAY 2024 | 31 Golf Club From the President, Mike Caldwell: During our most recent quarterly meeting, the Hemet 4 Seasons Golf Club general membership unanimously approved extending invitations to the 4 Seasons communities of Beaumont and Murrieta to participate and compete in inter-golf club tournaments throughout the coming year. We are looking forward to having the opportunity to increase participation here at our home course, and quite possibly traveling and competing at golf courses of their choosing. From the Vice President, Bob Morriss: The Club is arranging for a free set of two group golf lessons for "Newcomers" who might be interested in getting into and learning about golf. From the Tournament Chair, Elliot Yaeger: The May Schedule for the Hemet 4 Seasons Golf Club is as follows: • May 7 - 7:30 am Team: One, Two, Three Best Net Scores • May 13 - 7:30 am Individual: Throw Out 3 Holes: One Par 5, One Par 4, and One Par3 • 8 am Individual: Nine Hole Low Net Tournament • May 20 - 7:30 am Memorial Tournament - Eclectic Round 1 • May 27 - 7:30 am Memorial Tournament - Eclectic Round 2 From the Social Committee Chair, Meredith Becker: What a great month March turned out to be! O' my goodness! Saint Patrick's Day was celebrated with delicious homemade Irish Soda Bread (compliments of Jeanne Cahir). Of course, Irish coffee went with it! A fabulous, tasty treat that we enjoyed before our golf game. We went full steam ahead with 70 members at our "Poker Run" on April 6. The Grand Prize was $100 for the best poker hand that you drew while traveling around our neighborhood and stopping at five Golf Club members' homes for drinks and snacks and your playing card. We finished at the Lodge for pizza and trivia. Remember… you do not have to play golf to have fun… but you can try! From the Rules Chair, Bill Swinney: Did you Know? Rule 16.1 Abnormal Course Conditions including (Immovable Obstructions) This rule covers free relief that is allowed from interference by animal holes (gophers, squirrels, other burrowing animals, ground under repair (marked by red flags on our course) immovable obstructions and temporary water. Currently, temporary water exists in many areas of our course. If your ball lands in one of these areas, such as along the left side of hole #1 (not marked by red stakes), the left side of hole #2, the middle of the fairway on hole #5 and the left side of hole #9, around the reeds just off the tee box on hole #18 to name a few, you are allowed to drop a ball adjacent to where the ball ended up without penalty. ~ Mike McLaughlin mikemcla43@aol.com Debbie and Dennis James Poker Run Stop Larry Becker: the winning hand! Healthy Living Healthy Living focuses on health-related printed materials that are shared with the class. As seniors, we need to be mindful of finding the "healthy road to travel." We are a support group and know that social interaction is also part of a healthy lifestyle. We meet every Wednesday at 9 am in the Bistro. If you have any questions about our program, please call Dave and Karen Tuvim at (626) 710-7163.
