| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | MAY 2024 | 7 Welcome to spring! It is one of the loveliest times of the year in our community. Trees have new foliage, the flowers are in full bloom and our grass is the greenest of the year. Around the corner is summer, which always presents a challenge to our landscape. With the hard work of our landscaper, Artistic Maintenance and the Landscape Committee, we continue to work on keeping our plants and trees as healthy as possible. Here's what happening to our landscape: • Our pear trees in the Lodge area have had blight. Fortunately, we have taken steps with careful pruning and spraying to address it. • We have requested a more extensive cutback of the hedges along Four Seasons Blvd and World Cup. Last year a similar cut back was done in the front yards of the West Legends homes. While initially it looks "bad," most hedges have re-grown and are doing well. We plan to replace hedges that don't improve after the cutback. A similar cutback will be requested next year. • Some of you may have noticed the large brown pots near the entrance doors of the Lodge. We have found that their location is not conducive for growing plants. Keep your eyes open for a new "look" by June! Here's what's happing in the Legends (SBA) Area: The Legends homes landscape maintenance is done under a contract with Artistic maintenance. The Legends homeowners pay an extra fee for this maintenance which also includes water and irrigation repair. In March, the Landscape Committee hosted a Townhall meeting with the Legends residents to better communicate current challenges, and to provide questions for the Committee to consider. Approximately 65 residents attended the meeting. One of the goals is to find multiple ways to communicate and receive feedback from the homeowners' perspective. The many suggestions by the homeowners are now being considered and we are working on the best way to implement some of these ideas. We thank the Legends residents for their time, feedback and commitment for assisting the Landscape Committee efforts. I'd like to thank all members of the Landscape Committee, for their hard work and continuing efforts to keep our community's landscape beautiful. Landscape Committee Don't Paint Yourself into a Corner Driving around the Four Seasons community, you will surely notice the beautiful condition of the exterior of most homes here, due to our homeowners' diligence in home maintenance and our Architectural Standards and Regulations that require approval by the ARC of all paint applications, complying with the Standards and Regulations, before painting the exterior of your home. With summer coming soon, we will be looking more closely at homes that should be painted. If so, Maria, our Architectural and enforcement staff, will send you a letter indicating this. Please see Maria if you get one. Many homes have not been painted since they were built; others have, but may not have withstood our California weather well. Walk around your home and look for peeling or missing paint on window trim, fascia, soffits, garage and other doors, and fences. The paint on your stucco walls may have faded considerably or been stained by water. Perhaps you're thinking about selling your home, which needs to be painted. It is not a good idea to leave it to the new homeowner to take care of this. When you decide to sell your home, Management Staff will inspect your home to ensure the condition of the paint is acceptable. You may be required to correct any deficiencies before it can be sold. You may be a new homeowner. Maybe a realtor or someone else told you that you could paint your home, but did they tell you about the painting Architectural Standards? The Architectural Standards and Regulations require that "Any change in the color of a building or fence shall be subject to approval by the ARC." The Four Seasons developer created 14 color palettes. Maria can show you updated color codes and help you select a color scheme from among the 14 approved schemes to use. Painters may advise you about the color scheme, but remember, only a Board approved color scheme can be used. Failure to do so can be costly. It is always advisable to get multiple quotes for work on your home. Please be sure your contractor is licensed and insured. PLEASE DON'T WAIT FOR A LETTER FROM MARIA ASKING YOU TO PAINT YOUR HOME. Don't paint yourself into a corner! Architectural Review
