| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | JUNE 2024 | 27 Billiards Club If you like the game of pool and would like to meet and play like minded players, please join us in the Billiards Room on Tuesdays from 9 am to 12 noon. The club participates with the Hemet Valley Pool Club; we host and travel to other 55+ communities and have tournaments with other teams. The game of choice is 1-15, it is a form of 8 Ball and it is a lot of fun. We are also interested in enlisting a few more players for our club. If this interests you, please come on out and join us for a morning of billiards. As team captain, there is also something I would like to bring attention to our community on behalf of the club and myself. A few weeks back on one of our Tuesday morning get-togethers, we noticed that a community member had come into the Billiards Room and had liquid spill on four different areas of one of the pool table tops. If it were up to me, I would have an 18 and over ruling for the room, but as you know, this room is open to anyone with a resident? For us as a club to have this room in our community is a privilege, and should be treated with respect. So please, no food or drinks on the pool tables; the tables should be treated as a piece of furniture. This game is very fun but complex at the same time, and there are necessary rules to keep the tables in the best of condition, so please take care when in use. Thank you for your consideration. ~ Art Martel, Team Captain, (909) 973-8208 Book Club All readers interested in great discussions, occasional guest speakers, and movies, join us the third Monday of every month at 2 pm. Our book for June is Midnight At Malabar House by Yaseem Khan. We meet at my house 669 Weir Drive. Hope to see all of you. Any questions, contact Vicki Allen-Hitt at (951) 926-6336 or email vhitt@hotmail.com. The club's next parade will be on the Fourth of July! Details will be provided in future editions of the Herald and through Tracie's blasts and news about the Fourth of July festivities. Soon it is going to be a busy six weeks for the Flag Angels: Memorial Day, Flag Day, June Nineteenth, and the Fourth! The next flag day will be Memorial Day (flags will go up Sat., May 25 and come down Tues., May 28). On two sadder notes, one of the Angels passed away at the end of April: Karen Stevens, who partnered with Ginny Cole-Weaver on Invitational One (West of Four Seasons) and a substitute Angel got his "wings clipped;" so, Ed and Linda Wetter had to step down from Flag Angels. They will have to focus on getting Ed healthy. I am sure that they would enjoy "get well" wishes from you. Last month I promised that I would highlight each of these "Angels" in the Herald over the next few months. This month, John (the "Senator") and Sandi O'Connor will be highlighted. They have been placing flags for almost 20 years. John and Sandi were part of the original Flag Angels, and they are still going strong. They have been residents of Four Seasons since January 2004 and moved here from Long Beach. Their route covers the Legends East Area. If you know or recognize these Angels, give them a well- deserved "thank you" the next time you see them. As mentioned earlier, the Wetters had to step down as substitute Angels. It would be great if anyone is interested in volunteering to be a substitute Angel (they fill in on occasion when an Angel cannot post flags (sick, vacations, etc.)). If you would be willing to help, please call me at (951) 973-4149 or email mikemcla43@aol. com. ~ Mike McLaughlin Golf Cart Club Karen Stevens
