FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2024 27 Facilities Committee Summer is our busiest time of year in Facilities. We are looking at various projects, assessing needs, and starting new projects. The Board approved the following new projects in our April Open Board Session. First, in The Lodge, we will be replacing our current 20-year-old, 15-inch toilets with brand new 17-inch toilets. The current toilets are old and in constant need of repair, and the hard-water stains have become impossible to remove. These new toilets should be replaced in early summer. An automated door-opening system for the spa bathrooms was also approved. This will be consistent with our current automated door opening systems seen throughout Four Seasons and recognizable by the big silver button. Additional carpet replacement was also approved for The Lodge Library, Bistro, room adjacent to the Bistro, Lodge offices, and the Conference Room. The current carpets are over 20 years old, worn out, and dingy. We are in the process of choosing the carpet style and pattern. Our Facilities spotlight for June is Phillip Westbrook. Phil grew up in Corona, California; his mother raised him along with his two brothers. From 1975 through 1983, Phil was in the US Navy, working in the nuclear power field and mechanical division. We thank Phil for his service in the US Navy! After leaving military service, Phil began a career at CSUSB and eventually worked his way to become a chief engineer and energy manager at the University. During his time at the University, he participated in several projects. A few that came to his mind were 1.4 million square feet of new construction and several renovations, including a 1.2 MW solar 1.5 MW fuel cell. The University received several awards for energy efficiency and green projects during Phil's tenure with them. After retiring, Phil returned to work at the University of La Verne as the chief engineer in new construction and energy management. Phil married his lovely wife Elizabeth in 1999. They enjoy biking, hiking, dancing, and traveling. They were drawn to Four Seasons Beaumont for its charm and beauty; they have been residents of Four Seasons since 2009. We are privileged to have Phil as a member of our Facilities Committee; he is one of our most dedicated and longest-standing members. Phil's knowledge and willingness to always go the extra mile to assist whenever or wherever needed is invaluable to our team. We sincerely appreciate Phil's service to the committee and continuous efforts to improve our community. On any given day, you will see Phil on his motorcycle, symbolizing his vibrant spirit and dedication. He always will give you a wave and a beep from his bike. The Facilities Committee continues to strive for excellence to maintain the beauty of our community. We meet the second Wednesday of every month in the RCN Conference Room. All homeowners are welcome. Have a beautiful month. ~ Regina Farmer Phil and Elizabeth Westbrook at a Carol's Kitchen fundraiser event
