This is the perspective of the artist of the
month, Christine Vergara: Most of my art is
based on one of my photographs because I get to
remember the circumstances of when
I took the picture. It adds dimension
to my painting as I am working on it. is piece is
uncharacteristically different because it reminded me of
the old New England houses from my childhood.
e medium is watercolor pencil on paper, which I like
for versatility. It can be bold and crisp like a drawing or
so and delicate like watercolor painting.
I have been in Rob Kelman's class for years now and
I love challenging myself with new media, techniques
and approaches to color. Rob encourages us to embrace
exploration.
One of the real pleasures of the class has been getting to
know the other students and seeing how they are growing
as artists. eir choice of subject, medium, and style is so
varied and fascinating to see their work evolve.
We always welcome new members. Whether you've
been painting for decades or haven't picked up a pencil
or crayon to draw anything since grade school, please join
us. Classes are Mondays from 10 am to 12 noon and/or
