14 | THE COLONY NEWS | JUNE 2024 | "The Colony community looks well kept." "Your homes always look good." "We always love driving in your community." These are just a few comments given to fellow homeowners from their visitors. Comments such as these are what the ACC loves to hear. We often face negative head shakes as we travel through the community, but these positive comments make us smile. The committee has begun our second round of home inspections. We noticed many homes with clogged rain gutters, which causes dirt to run down the sides of the house. The longer it remains there the harder it is to remove. Some homes even have weed gardens growing in the rain gutters. Please take a walk around your home and check your gutters. You may also want to check the bolts holding your rain gutters. We noticed several with rust. If left unattended, this may lead to rust running down your stucco, which causes staining. Please remember that applications are required for the majority of home improvements. The committee meets the first and third Tuesday of every month. Applications are due by 4 pm the Thursday prior to our Tuesday meetings. When your project is complete, you must notify the office and a final inspection will be performed by our committee members. We are volunteers who use our time and gas to drive around The Colony. Often, we arrive at the home for the final inspection and find the work has not been started nor completed. Please remember to call the office if there is a delay with the starting or completing date of your project.
