We have quarterly gatherings where new and established residents can meet, mingle, and get to know each other. e gatherings are loosely structured and provide new residents an opportunity to introduce themselves. Our goal is to have you walk away with new friends and a feeling of community. ere are many activities available at OHCC and you can participate as much or as little as you choose. e choices are nearly endless: golf, racquet sports, swimming, bocce ball, cras, music, billiards, Mahjong games, card games and more. OHCC offers about 40 official clubs and many other special interest groups. OHCC is truly a year-round summer camp for adults. is month we are spotlighting new resident Sandi Royce, who moved to OHCC with her precious little dog, Sophie, last October. Sandi was living in Mandalay Beach, Oxnard, CA, when she decided to move closer to her children. e first place she thought of was the "Leisure Village" in Oceanside, CA where her parents Hank and Belle Greenberg were founding members of the community! e Greenberg's were original owners of 4690 Cordoba Way and are shown in the picture below reading in the library. at same lamp sits on the reception counter to this day. To Sandi's delight, she was able to find the perfect home within OHCC. All these years later, she found the community to be well-maintained, beautifully landscaped, and with many more activities than when the Village first opened. Welcome, Sandi! Plans are now underway for a cake and ice cream social on June 22 from 2 to 5 pm in Palm Court. We are very grateful to Barbara DuDeck, OHCC Resident Realtor, Your Sunny San Diego Connection, who helped sponsor the refreshments for our next meeting. Newbies is not a Club and does not charge dues, and we are entirely dependent on donations to keep our group going. An email reminder will be sent out for the June 22 function.
