6 | OHCC LIVING | JUNE 2024 | I hope all is well and your day is going fantastic so far. It's June! Wow, how time flies when you're having fun. While the issue of garage doors being open is still apparent within the community, I have seen fewer open garages during the night shi. Great job! My officers continue to do tours throughout their shis. We hope to contact those who have it open or those who are not attending the garage get closed. As I stated in my previous article, the changing of times means more fun and activities with others. Due to that, I was made aware of an ongoing issue within OHCC. Bicyclists, I would like to reiterate that it is California Law that anyone riding a bicycle must obey stop signs and red lights. I'm posting an excerpt from the DMV website: "Each year in California, over 100 bicyclists are killed and over 10,000 are injured in collisions. Bicyclists have the same rights and responsibilities as motorists, and it is important to pay attention to traffic signs and signals to reduce the risk of collisions while on the road." Unfortunately, my officers can't be at every stop sign and witness every bicyclist running the stop signs. I have informed the officers that if they witness a bicyclist not stopping, they should gather as much information as possible and let the person know that they need to stop at the stop sign. For the ones who follow the rules, thank you for keeping yourself and the community safe! I always encourage safety and compliance; the more cooperation of the community, the better. ank you, OHCC residents, for your integral role in our community.
