On May 3, we celebrated Cinco de Mayo with festivities,
food and fellowship.
Our meal, which was catered by Tacos and Beer,
included carne asada, chicken and carnitas tacos,
rice and beans, salsa, chips and guacamole. Debbie
Connor donated a cooler full of Modelo beer. Janet
Carpenter and Bianca Ralston donated pitchers of margaritas.
We had a photo booth and raffle baskets. Lane Joel took a photo of
our group, and this photo will be used in our Bon Appetit Cooking
Club cookbook. The cookbook will be available for purchase at the
Solera Autumn Craft Sale. Please contact our Secretary Debbie Eudy
at bonappetitsolera@aol.com for pre-sale information.
Once again we couldn't stage these events without the help of our
committees:
Set-up and Clean-up Committee: Janet Carpenter (Chair), Terry
Commeans, Debbie Connor, Pat Parker, Debbie Moore, Bette Rader,
Connie Trudgeon, Rosie Brooks, Susan Stillerman, Cindy Capps,
Eileen Kosmicki and Vicki Kale.
Decorating: Carolyn Keierleber (Chair), Mary Puchalski and
Debbie Connor.
Raffle Baskets: Carolyn Keierleber (Chair) and Becky Thomas, as
well as our awesome club members who donate items for the raffle
baskets. Proceeds from these raffle baskets are used to provide
a scholarship to a student from the Beaumont High School
Culinary Program.
Cookbook Committee: Debbie Eudy (Chair), Marianne
Bunn, Janet Carpenter, Linda Dixon, Vicki Kale, Sheila Kelly,
Lynn Lowe and Sue Miller. Proceeds from these cookbooks
will be used to provide a scholarship to a student from the Beaumont
High School Culinary Program.
Our next event is Fri., June 7 at 1 pm in the Oakmont Room.
Please RSVP to Debbie Eudy at bonappetitsolera@aol.com. Guests
are always welcome. Our June event is a demonstration by Chefs
Ross Carter and Jonathon Weiner from the Beaumont High School
Culinary Program. They will be showing us how to make tomato
soup from scratch and gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches. Samples
of the soup and sandwiches will be provided to all attendees. The Bon
Appetit Cooking Club will also be presenting a scholarship check to
Beaumont High School Culinary Program graduating senior, Chase
Jordan who carries a 4.2 GPA and plans to major in Food Sciences
while attending college in Alabama.
We look forward to seeing you on Fri., June 7 at 1 pm in the
Oakmont Rooms.
