| LIFE IN SOLERA | JUNE 2024 | 5 June 1 is the beginning of our new fiscal year for 2024 – 2025. We are happy to welcome Steven Bly, a new Board member who took office on May 15. He is the husband of Margaret Bly, who is a member of this committee. Congratulations! We hosted our Social Gathering on April 24. Thank you to the representatives of our Clubs/Groups who attended. We want to apologize to any club/group who did not get notice of this event. We do our best to contact all the clubs/groups to invite them to this event. Please make sure if you have changes in your club/group's contact information, please make sure Christina Moore is notified. We do appreciate your participation at this event. Summer is upon us and many of us will have family and friends visiting. Many will be enjoying the pool to relax and keep cool. Please remember to inform them of the rules, which are for everyone's safety and enjoyment. A few rules are children must be potty trained (no diapers or swim diapers are permitted regardless of age), no running, jumping, or diving; the spa is for those 16 years old or older; and a resident must be always present at the pool with their visitors while using the pool or spa. Citiguard is our new security company. They began on May 6 and are committed to providing us with the level of security we need and require. Please welcome them to Solera. Please remind your visitors that identification is required every time they enter, even when they already have a visitor's pass. It is suggested that they have their picture scanned to Gate Sentry to faster service at the gate. If their information is not in Gate Sentry, they will need to show their identification each time they enter. Thank you for your patience during these past few weeks while they are training and learning our requirements, Community Rules, and the Gate Sentry Access System. Welcome to our newest ambassador, Amy Dietz. I would like to recognize the ambassadors of this committee and express appreciation for their hard work and dedication to our community: Jill Markman, Margaret Bly, Sheila Kelly, Joanne Larson, Katherine Marchi, Sarah Tsai, and Dale Van Camp. ~ Marcia Casem, Chairperson, New Resident Welcome Advisory Committee Welcome Committee DONATIONS Please do not drop off donations of more than a small bag of books at the library at one time. And remember that we are a reading library focusing on current publications because of our limited space. If you have a lot of books in boxes you want to find homes for, the Beaumont Public Library has a program and volunteers to process and redistribute donations and a large Donation Bin in their parking lot. However I know that, like our library, they do not take Reference materials, outdated materials or multi-volume sets. Space is a problem for every library I have ever worked in. In Solera, we have one library volunteer who picks up donations of items that are duplicates or past our currency period. Large coffee table size books are a major problem because we have very limited space to display them in the library. The monitors help her put them in her car but she has to get them into the Beaumont donation bin. Remember BOOKS ARE HEAVY and the library volunteers are members of our 55+ community. Thank you for your donations, particularly of new reading material. ~ Denise Westcott, Librarian and all our great library volunteers, Sarah, Hildegard, Melinda, Karina, and Glenda Solera Library
