| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JUNE 2024 | 51 In June, the garden whispers secrets of growth and renewal, inviting us to witness the beauty of life in every leaf and petal, as we sow dreams and harvest memories beneath the warmth of the summer sun. Happy Gardening … Raelene Kretchman As we enter the vibrant month of June, the Garden Club springs back to life! Mark your calendars for June 12, the second Wednesday of the month, and join us at the Main Clubhouse Ballroom from 10 am to 12 pm. This month our special guest speaker is Jodie Haltz, Director of UC Riverside's Botanical Gardens. Get ready to be enchanted, enlightened, and enthralled by the wisdom and wonder she'll share! Let's make this June a month to remember as we embark on a journey of botanical brilliance together! In June, gardens burst with color and life, offering a feast for the senses. It's a time of busy hands and vibrant blooms, as roses, peonies, and irises take center stage. Amidst the gardening tasks of weeding and watering, there's joy in preparing for Father's Day. Whether it's sharing a meal al fresco or planting together, the garden provides the perfect backdrop for celebrating Dad's love and hard work. So as June unfolds, let's revel in the beauty of nature and the warmth of family, making memories that bloom alongside the summer flowers. A message from President Beverly Agner: • The lush tree blossoms promise a bountiful harvest ahead. Need a hand with fruit picking? Reach out to Joy Bailey at (951) 845-5540, and her team of expert pickers will be ready to assist you. • On Sat., June 1, we invite you to join us for our enchanting Garden Tour. Discover the hidden treasures nestled behind the garden gates of our community. Maps and a list of tour addresses are available at the Main Clubhouse. For more details, contact Pat Pennington at (951) 315-9229. • We're dedicated to making a difference! Help us support the Lions Club by donating your old eyeglasses and cases. Your retired cell phones become lifelines for our military overseas through calling cards. Plus, Travel One assembles toiletry gift bags for those in need from your travel-sized items, provided to HELP. And don't forget those toilet paper rolls — no size is too small! Feel free to bring your donations to our monthly meetings or leave them on the porch at 1801 Masters Drive. • We're thrilled to announce our support for the Charity Weekends' Monster Scramble - hole 16 on the Executive Course! Linda Kalb and her dedicated committee have cooked up a truly unique experience for our golfers. Don't miss out on the fun — come show your support. • The "Plant and Planters Sale" has a new home in May, 2025, now set to blossom in odd years, while the Garden Tour takes its turn to shine in even years. • Regrettably, we won't be offering See's Candies for Father's Day this year due to limited interest. For more information, please contact President Beverly Agner at (951) 306-7379. For membership questions, reach out to Sherry Case at (951) 533-3584 or Linda Powers at (951) 769-3101. Garden Club
