Table Tennis/
Ping Pong
Sunny days here today, gone tomorrow, atmospheric rivers, El NiƱo
be damned, come hell or high water, SLCC Table Tennis play did not
skip a beat. There were many close games, not many beatdowns. The
rallies on all tables are getting longer, tactically interesting, and one
hell of a lot of fun. But, watch out guys, the ladies are getting better.
No hot shot of the month this time around; it's hard to raise the bar
on some of these exciting shots we see around here. We will see what
happens next month.
SLCC Table Tennis is an activity that anyone can enjoy, age is not
a restriction that takes away the fun and camaraderie that occurs
spontaneously. Not only this, the health benefits are significant, so
much so, that a number of NeuroPong organizations have sprung up
worldwide, to promote the game as a kind of neurological exercise, a
rehabilitative physical therapy that improves symptoms of Multiple
Sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, Mild Cognitive Impairment, ADHD,
and many more. It is evidence-based therapy, supported by many
disease foundations. This is much more than the recreational and
competitive play typically associated with the sport. So if you are
interested in how this works in more detail, scan the

Or on your computer, go to pingpongforgood.org.
Please note that anyone with any medical concerns
who want to partake in the benefits of Table Tennis
should be prudent and get a clearance from their physician. Those
with mobility problems can play singles, use our robot, or play one-
on-one for practice without the competition. There are many options
for you guys, so come on down!
We usually play Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 4 to 6
pm, and Saturdays,10 am to 12 pm, but it is best to check the SLCC
website for updated schedule changes, because sometimes we get
bumped, due to other community activities going on. Hard copies
of the schedule are available on game days in the Ballroom. If there
are any questions, suggestions, or concerns, please contact Gary Lile
at (805) 722-7427, G4lile@yahoo.com, or John Williams at (951) 489-
9737, jgwms.williams@gmail.com.
