ADVERTISING Contact Image Up at (909) 797-3647 or email imageup1@verizon.net As residents of the Solera Diamond Valley community, it's important to recognize and respect the natural habitats that coexist within the surroundings. One such area deserving of our attention and care is the Mitigation Area along the Paseo, serving as a vital habitat for various wildlife species. The presence of hawks soaring above and coyotes roaming the landscape underscores the significance of this area as a habitat for diverse fauna. Additionally, the ecosystem supports a range of smaller organisms, including grubs and insects, contributing to its ecological richness. In May 2019, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) formally acknowledged the successful completion of compensatory mitigation efforts, culminating in the release of associated performance bonds in October of the same year. This is a significant milestone in our commitment to environmental stewardship, demonstrating our dedication to meeting regulatory requirements while safeguarding natural habitats. While the formal mitigation efforts have concluded, our responsibility to uphold the integrity of the Mitigation Area remains ongoing and has been for several years. The Solera Diamond Valley Community Association has undertaken the task of long-term maintenance, ensuring the sustained health and vitality of this precious ecosystem. To this end, a maintenance protocol has been established and followed since 2019, addressing key aspects essential for the preservation of the Mitigation Area: 1. Trash/Debris Removal: Regular quarterly removal of trash and debris, including green waste and windblown litter, from the riparian corridor is prioritized. Additionally, thorough inspections are conducted during routine landscape maintenance to uphold cleanliness and ecological integrity. 2. Maintenance of Storm Water Structures: Annual inspections and maintenance of storm water structures, which contribute to the hydration of the riparian corridor, are conducted prior to the rainy season. This proactive approach ensures the uninterrupted f low of water to sustain the habitat throughout the year. By adhering to these maintenance practices, we not only fulfill our regulatory obligations but also demonstrate our unwavering commitment to environmental conservation. Through collective efforts and ongoing vigilance, we can preserve the natural beauty of our community for generations to come.
