12 | THE COLONY NEWS | JULY 2024 | The Architectural Committee is currently working on major changes to the Approved Colony paint book. We have heard from homeowners that there are too many choices and many look similar. It will take a while to complete this task, which will then need Board approval. Whether using our current book, or the updated book when completed, here are two suggestions when choosing the color: 1. Drive around The Colony. Are there any home paint combinations you like? Would that paint combination look well with your roof tile color? If you have the street name and address, the office may be able to assist you in finding the combination that was used at a specific residence. 2. Think about purchasing a few samples. Try these on different sides of your home. What do they look like in the morning, afternoon, and evening light? Now that the rainy season is over, take a walk around your house. Take a good look at your patio cover, gutters, garage door, driveway, etc. A simple hosing off will keep your property looking clean and ready for summer days. Once again, we remind you to tend to your wrought iron fences. The upper portion of your fence may look fine but look closely at the bottom portion. If you notice white deposits, those often turn to rust if not touched up. After looking at home applications for fence replacement, we know they cost in the thousands to replace. Be proactive. It will save you money in the long run. It is also good to replace those sun-faded artificial f lowers and greenery. Be sure you do not have greenery growing in your gutters! We have seen this a lot since the rainy season. Another big shout out to those who continue to maintain their homes on a regular basis – thank you! ARCHITECTURAL CONTROL By Gloria Brosky
