From the Desk of Pat Kight, Director
I am writing this article the day before Memorial Day, and you will
be reading it just prior to Independence Day. Two days that hold so
much meaning for me and I'm sure you as well.
The freedom we enjoy in this country did not just happen.
Memorial Day is so much more than just another three-day weekend.
It's a day we honor those brave, unselfish
Americans who gave it their all.
My high school friend, Jimmy, and I were
drafted on December 14, 1965. We went to
Fort Ord together, then he went to Fort Lewis,
Washington and I went to Fort Hood, TX.
We both arrived in Viet Nam about the same
time. I returned. Jimmy's name is forever
etched on The Wall. I am sure the same story
can be told by millions of veterans.
Now as we celebrate our country's birthday,
let us give thanks to God that we live in
the greatest country on earth. Linda and I
recently visited Washington, DC. Each time
I am there, I am overwhelmed with our
country's history and all the great men who
somehow had the foresight and wisdom to
pen the amazing Declaration of Independence and our Constitution.
I am so proud to have served this wonderful country, and I
consider it an honor to serve with the amazing people that form our
HOA Board of Directors. Thank you for your trust.
God bless you all and God Bless America!
