16 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JULY 2024 | There have been some thefts recently in the RV storage lot. Reports from residents indicated that the RV sections most affected were in the northeast and rear center areas. When informed, Securitas immediately inspected all the RVs in the lot to ensure that there were no additional break-ins. Residents were contacted by responding officers and Administration sent email notifications to the community. The Board has approved a patrol officer to be stationed in the RV lot from 10 pm to 6 am until CCTV cameras can be upgraded, which is a priority. Residents are encouraged to not leave valuables inside their RV's and to always secure them properly. Loose dogs remain a concern, primarily due to residents failing to follow leash regulations. Banning PD will not respond to dog issues and animal control services are overwhelmed by increasing demand, leading to delays in assisting when it is most needed. Additionally, enforcing leash regulations has faced resistance from some community members, which is a concerning trend. Everyone is encouraged to contact patrol when you spot a violation and they will educate the dog owner and/or possibly issue a citation. Patrol has observed an uptick in neighbor disputes recently. Causes have ranged from political differences to lawn care to parking issues to just odd behavior. In response, Securitas has increased patrols and enhanced surveillance to address these issues promptly and effectively. Officers have been trained to mediate conf licts and to provide support to residents involved in disputes. To prevent unwanted attention and to reduce the likelihood of conf licts, residents are encouraged to maintain open and respectful communication with their neighbors, adhere to community guidelines, and address concerns directly and calmly. Additionally, participating in community events and fostering positive relationships can create a harmonious living environment for all residents. There has been an ongoing issue regarding golf carts crossing streets from one hole to another. Always proceed with caution but remember that vehicles on the street have the right-of-way. Stopping to allow golf carts to cross can cause back-ups and can become a safety issue. The Safety Committee had a meeting this week and we voted to make a recommendation to the Master Board regarding the pedestrian gate at Gate #1 and a recommendation regarding traffic violations. Stay tuned! Safety Advisory Sun Lakes Committee Reports
