18 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JULY 2024 | Sun Lakes Committee Reports As we begin the month of July here at Sun Lakes, we celebrate Independence Day, the birth of our nation, and take the occasion seriously. Our patriotic hearts beat red, white, and blue. "Proud To Be An American" is the theme for this year's annual Golf Cart & Classic Car Parade. Enjoy breakfast burritos before the parade, DJ Entertainment, popcorn, games and so much more. Don't let the fun end — purchase BBQ tickets available in the Sandwedge. You won't want to miss any of this fun-filled day as we salute America's heroes whose legacies live on forever! Fri., July 12, stop in and bring a friend to commemorate National Pecan Pie Day with a delicious slice and top it with whipped cream or ice cream. Wed., July 17 is National Hot Dog Day. Chef will be serving large juicy all beef original hot dogs or bacon-wrapped hot dogs. Thurs., July 25, enjoy National Chili Dog Day with a large all beef chili cheese dog with SLCC famous in house-made chips or "freedom" fries. On July 26, the Summer Olympics begin. Then we end July with Tues., July 30, "International Day of Friendship," and Wed., July 31, National Avocado Day … enjoy Chef 's incredible guacamole, add a refreshing cocktail, some chips, good friends, new friends and neighbors too. Our committee had the privilege of looking in on the Lounge Renovation and wow, it's going to be great! As of this writing, we are on schedule for "potential" completion, September or October, just in time for holiday festivities and fun. Remember the new rule about gratuities and service charges means that you all need to tip your waiters. This gratuity will no longer be automatically added to your bill. Please take care of those who strive so hard to take care of you and make your dining experience enjoyable. With as many diverse members that we have ages 55 to over 100 years old, it would be impossible to please everyone all the time. Our new Food & Beverage Director Erich Wenzel and his entire team will try to make all of us feel welcome, respected and valued. Don't forget, the last Sunday of each month Chef Chris prepares an incredibly spectacular brunch. You must call for reservations in advance. Our Restaurant & Lounge are here for you.
