| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JULY 2024 | 31 A reminder for those who have already signed up and paid — our July event is July 6 and will feature someone new to our club, Cowboy Mike. I've heard him sing, thoroughly enjoyed his sound, and believe he will be a good performer for us. For our June gathering, we had beef stroganoff from Thomas catering and it was spectacular! Our entertainment was the fabulous singing duo of Lori and Lisa. Their voices are so different and yet combine for incredible harmonies. Lisa was Karen Carpenter in Legends and Lori is a more sultry contributor to their wonderful blend. Lisa brought her bongo drums which also lent a unique and fun flavor to their sound. Some of their songs were Daydream Believer, What I Do For Love, is ing Called Love, Gonna Be A Heartache Tonight, and Baby Come Back. They also added my two requests: Cry to Me and the new award-winning upbeat song Flowers for which they do an amazing job. They continued singing as the club went through the line for food and I heard many, many words of praise for them. We could tell they were having fun and were grateful they shared it with us. Thank you Lori and Lisa, we look forward to your next visit! The 80s Club is for our Sun Lakes residents near or over 80 years of age along with their guests, no matter their ages. Our events begin at 3 pm, and include a brief meeting with announcements, then entertainment and the meals begin between 3:30 and 4 pm. Our attendance each month is very close to the capacity at the South Clubhouse and it makes for a very festive and interacting group. Come join us once for the meal price of $18 to see if you might enjoy our group and only if you do will you need to join for the second time you attend. Our dues are $10 a year per person. Our meals are $18 per person. Our August event will be featuring very special entertainers. Many of you will recall the singing trio of Audacity which included Gina Harlan, Sheila James, and Nancy Ford. They are one of my most favorite groups of all time and they are reuniting for our August 80s Club gathering. I repeat, this will be very special! I am pretty impressed that we will get this exceptional trio, you won't want to miss them. Get your checks to Donna Harrington (for $18 per person) at 5393 Riviera for our August event reservations before July 28. If the event sells out, the box will be removed and an event closed note will be there. If you are mailing in your check, we must have it in by the deadline date and make sure your phone number is on the check. We're always at the south clubhouse and people begin arriving at 2:30 to get checked in and get their seats, and the program starts at 3 pm. Please make your checks out to 80s Plus Club.
