| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JULY 2024 | 51 In the heart of summer, our gardens remind us that the best things in life are nurtured with patience, love, and a touch of dirt under our nails. ~ Raelene Kretchman Join us for a lively and inspiring Garden Club meeting on Wed. July 10, in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. We gather on the second Wednesday of every month from 10 am to 12 pm. It's the perfect time for gardeners to come together, share ideas, and discover new tips and tricks to make our gardens flourish. Whether you're a seasoned green thumb or just starting out, there's always something new to learn and enjoy. This month's theme is "Oceans of the Deep." We are thrilled to have Linda Vieira, a long-time resident of Sun Lakes, as our guest speaker. Linda will delve into the fascinating world of Edible Seaweed. Not only will she bring seaweed samples for us to taste, but she will also educate us on the numerous environmental advantages of seaweed aquafarming, which can encourage a more robust ecosystem. Don't miss this unique opportunity to explore the depths of ocean gardening and expand your horticultural horizons. For those of you who are new to the Garden Club, there are countless opportunities to dive in and get involved. Our various committees are always looking for enthusiastic members. At the start of each meeting, the committee chairs share exciting updates and plans. If something catches your interest, don't hesitate to chat with the chairs during the break and find out how you can join the fun. In the Garden Club, there's a place for everyone to contribute, learn, and grow together. A message from your President, Beverly Agner: I am excited to announce a new addition to our monthly meetings – Pat Pennington, our Garden of Eat-Em chairperson. Pat will be speaking for 20 to 30 minutes each meeting about his favorite subject: vegetable gardens. He'll share handy hints on utilizing your ground or growing pots and answer the many questions our members have. As we look forward to our next gathering, let's reflect on the joy of gardening during the Fourth of July. Gardening and Independence Day go hand in hand, with vibrant blooms and lush greenery celebrating the peak of summer. The warm July sun nurtures both our plants and our spirits, reminding us of the freedom to cultivate beauty and sustenance in our own gardens. This act of nurturing and growth symbolizes the independence and perseverance we celebrate. Happy gardening! For more information, please contact President Beverly Agner at (951) 306-7379. For membership questions, reach out to Sherry Case at (951) 533-3584 or Linda Powers at (951) 769-3101. Garden Club
