32 | OHCC LIVING | JULY 2024 | Music Lovers It's July and summer is here! As summer approaches and our members begin trips near and far to enjoy graduations, vacations, and family visits, Music Lovers Club music will continue here at OHCC. Coffee House Monday entertainment continues on the Palm Court every week from 10 am to noon. And the gathering of music lovers extends to the pool and the courts. Live music really is appreciated here in OHCC. Sunshine, coffee and music in the morning; it does a body good. Thanks to the Recreation Staff for making it happen each week and keeping the musicians in the shade. Plus, we get to watch the finishing touches being put on the Lanai. We love it when the workers are able to hammer in time with the music. It's going to be a great place to have events and social gatherings! We've gotten great feedback on our 40th Anniversary Event on May 30th and it was a privilege to have all our performers and singers entertain our fellow OHCC residents. Thanks to all who were able to attend as well as to our incredible social committee who did our set up and take down. At this writing we're still waiting on the yearbooks which will be a real treat to look through. Thanks to all who came out for the Villagers Concert last month on June 21. It's great to be back outside and enjoying the summer with music and friends! To all those in our club who are vacationing this season, we wish you safe travels and wonderful times in the great beyond. We can't wait to hear about all the places you've been! Our club is officially a year and a half old this month and we want to thank our Board, and our members for your support, ideas and commitment. We couldn't have made it this far without you! To our members celebrating birthdays in July, we hope it's a knockout! Happy Birthday to Janice Lowry, Michael Oren, Karla Planowski, Donna Stone and Ellin Quin. Until next month, keep singing in the rain, the shower, the car… and if you don't know the words, just fake it! Respectfully submitted by Debbie Cea The Genealogy Interest Group is a growing group of individuals who want to find out about their heritage and their ancestry. Curiosity about those who came before and formed us is important. The group provides tools to do your research and help in getting started. For the experienced we can offer suggestions to break through the brick walls of past generations. Meeting with others looking in the same geographical areas is a great help. We have both Apple computers and PCs in the Computer Room. It is helpful if you want to bring your own laptop. We will meet for a Help Session on Fri., July 19 at 10 am. Newcomers are welcome. All sessions can be seen on the TAG calendar. We are happy to offer the World Explorer version of Ancestry.com free of charge in the computer room. This program would cost an individual over $100 a month. We also offer the Family Tree Maker on several of the computers in the lab. A family tree can be started and compiled with either or both of these programs with many hints to assist in your research. Coordinators are Dorothy Miller, Shirley Rock and Peggy Singh.
