40 | OHCC LIVING | JULY 2024 |
May brought many club members to what we all call a "Pop-Up"
at Gator by the Bay – San Diego's Zydeco, Blues, & Crawfish Festival
and some are still speaking Cajun. It was a great group who enjoyed
authentic Louisiana-themed music and food. A Pop-Up for you
novices is a group activity which allows any one club member to
make their own reservations and travel arrangements and then
meet up with other members at the event.
The RV Club, like many others, celebrated OHCC's 40th
Anniversary by hosting "Happy Camper Cones" Snow cones in
the Palm Court. This was a free event open to all OHCC residents
who signed waivers holding the RV Club not responsible for anyone
sustaining a brain freeze. A great afternoon was had by all.
June was our "Chillin with the Band" in Palm Court with our
very own RV Band featuring the talent of Lawrence Aiken, Brad
Davidson and Tim Griffin. The Jimmy Buffet themed event
featured food, margaritas, and ridiculously-clad parrot heads.
July brings the club's annual summer party held in the new
Lanai featuring great food, entertainment, and outstanding adult
beverages, which leads to dancing as though no one is watching.
August brings about the RV Club trip to Star Valley Ranch RV
Park in beautiful Thayne, Wyoming. Wagon Masters Bill and
Sandee Lang have enjoyed this resort for years and luckily for
us, shared this wonderful destination. The trip includes cocktail
hours, Karaoke at Dad's Bar and Grill, a Chili Dump, a day trip to
Jackson Hole and a scenic Snake River Raft dusk tour with dinner.
A Barn Dance Hoedown and Barbeque, a tour of Palisades Dam and
lunch at Melvins Brewery in Alpine, along with a trip to the Lincoln
County Fair and Rodeo. Other than that, there isn't much to do.
Make a note that the next RV Club Membership Meeting will be
on Sept. 24, and if you are not there, we may talk about you.
