| OHCC LIVING | JULY 2024 | 47 Walkers & Hikers Club Would you ever think about starting a new "profession?" Becoming a hike or walk leader? Planning a hike or walk from beginning to end? The Club is pointing to you. You would have a wonderful time with several of our members as you experience the outdoors together. Several club members have suggested a hike or walk that they would like to see on the schedule. All members are welcome to plan and lead a hike or walk, any day of the week, any time of the day. This writer is inviting you to lead, and plan. Call or text Herb Livsey at (404) 819-5054, or email at fstbrk5@aol. com. He can guide you through all you need for your planning and then executing the hike or walk. Give it a try! We are still falling back on Board members to plan and lead; we want all of our members involved. July 11 — San Clemente to Calafia Walk. Marla Reiter, Club member/Board member, is an experienced hiker, and Hike leader. She is planning a hike and a walk during the month of July. Those will be announced by way of email and on our website: https://OHCC walkers hikers.wixsite.com/ OHCCwalkerd-hikers A WALK is on predominantly f lat surfaces with slight elevation, usually fewer than three miles. A HIKE can be moderate, difficult, or strenuous. A moderate hike could consist of a moderate elevation change, but always good footing on a good trail. A difficult hike has some steepness with up and down grade changes, possible directional changes. All of our hikes have good footing and are good trails. We invite members, and there is a large number of you, to begin to take part in our planning. We leave June with an excellent walk in San Clemente on the beach trail, lunch at the Fisherman … 24 members on this one. A beautiful time together. Written by Herb Livsey, Vice President Calorie Free Happy Hour! If you are interested in improving strength, flexibility, endurance, balance, and overall body conditioning, then you may want to consider attending an aerobics class to see if it fits your needs. This is an all standing low impact class… NO JUMPING! The instructor leads each class in a warm up session followed by the aerobic portion, and then she does a cool down. Light weights are used for the last 10 minutes of the class. Occasionally there are a few exercises for balance and an easy dance for fun. Classes are available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in Abravanel Hall from 10 to 11 am with instructor Christine Alesiani. You can choose the number of classes each week that you would like to attend. (There is no class available on the second Wednesday of each month.) The cost is $5 per class paid directly to the instructor. You may pay for and try two classes without joining the club. The annual club dues are $6 (please make the check payable to OH Aerobics). ~ Written by Margie Raisigel Aerobics
