Happy Fourth of July! Summer has finally shown up. We are hoping for a great turnout for our Fourth of July Parade on the day of. Please come to the Clubhouse for the map of the route. The map will be posted online. Each year we change the direction of the procession of the Holiday Parade and/ or the Fourth of July Parade. At this writing, the Lanai is scheduled to open and plans are being made as to scheduling the activities and the consideration for an Open House. The stucco on the Lanai is near completion and we are so excited for this additional venue to host events. The staff is looking forward to "working it" and seeing what the Lanai has to offer for holding events in the beautiful outdoors. Several projects have been completed within the Clubhouse. Our Maintenance staff made upgrades to the counters of the Sewing Room, so the surface level is flat at the request of the Sewing Club. It really is an improvement to the functionality of the room. Some storage shelves were added, and new paint applied. The Craft Room has an addition of a 65" TV for the showing of classes and YouTube videos. New kilns are operational, improving surfaces for equipment, and several residents have been organizing the shelving, cabinets, and Kiln Room. Thank you to Vickie Foster, Jo Marr, and Karen Henschell for working together to make the room more serviceable, for the numerous crafters that utilize the space every day. In the recent Social Club's meeting, staff informed the members of changes to the Special Event Form provided for events. This form is required when hosting an event where a more intricate set-up is required such as: club activities, private parties, memorials, etc. We are going to enforce the deadlines for submissions, as we add the Lanai to the mix. It is imperative that we receive this information completed and on time. The clubs will be meeting in August and that paperwork will be distributed to launch our 2025 scheduling efforts. It is also the desire for all clubs to do a summer cleaning of their storage closets beginning in August. This active participation is necessary, as we make way for other new clubs that desire storage space in the Clubhouse. With summer in full swing, the pool users are out in full force. Registration is required for all guests. Children's hours remain the same: 11 am to 2 pm during the week and 11 am to 3 pm on the weekends and holidays. Children's ages to swim are five to 14 years old. If a child younger than that is in the pool, they will be asked to leave. CPS officers will frequent the areas, monitoring the activity during this time, and helping to create a wonderful time around the pool. Keep the Labor Day Saturday on your calendars, as this will be our Concert on the Green and Walk on the Golf Course Day, Sat., Aug. 31. Get family and friends together for a picnic on the greens. We are looking for sunshine, as June had too much gloom, but we are finally warming up. See you in the Clubhouse! A flower cannot blossom without sunshine, and man cannot live without love. I've found that there is always some beauty le - in Nature, sunshine, freedom, in yourself; these can all help you. e Sun is the giver of life. I was rich, if not in money, in sunny hours and summer days. – Anonymous 18 | OHCC LIVING | JULY 2024 | Recreation News By Christy Bessey
