| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | JULY 2024 | 9 Library Committee July and the warm summer weather is here. The Four Seasons Library Committee volunteers continue to work hard every month of the year to keep the library in good condition and a place for you to visit as often as you wish. As temperatures soar outside, the library remains nice and cool to visit, browse, and relax inside The Lodge. The expansion of the book collections continues with the addition of more bookcases, providing you with more materials for your reading pleasure. Then there are the puzzles which I've asked committee member, Perjeah Dhevun, to comment on this month: Speed Puzzling – Is that really a thing? You thought jigsaw puzzling was a relaxing pastime for a rainy weekend, right? Wrong! Welcome to the largest jigsaw puzzle competition in the world. The clock's ticking, adrenaline is pumping! In September 2023, the World Jigsaw Puzzle Championship was held in sunny Spain. The winner in the individual category set a record of 32 minutes, 41 seconds to complete a 500-piece puzzle. There were 54 nations represented and 905 participants vying for prizes. But YOU just want to put together a puzzle for your own enjoyment… Did you know that there are surprising health benefits of doing jigsaw puzzles, the different types of jigsaw puzzles, and that there are many choices of what to do with them once completed? More food for thought on these topics another time. Back to Four Seasons. Relax… with any of our 300 to 1,000-piece puzzles of every subject imaginable. Finished a puzzle? Thank you for donating it to our library for your neighbors to enjoy. First, make sure the puzzle is complete with no pieces missing. We would appreciate it if you would tape the puzzle box shut to keep the top of the puzzle box from accidentally coming off. Then bring the puzzle into the library and place it in the puzzle return box on the small bookcase against the back wall. Committee members will make sure the puzzle is returned to the appropriate puzzle case now residing across the hall from the library in the computer room. Yes, that's where all the puzzles formally in the library now call home, thanks to the Four Seasons HOA Board for approving the move! As mentioned above, now we have more room in the library to expand our book collections! Bye for now, Betty Crase and Perjeah Dhevun Facilities Committee Can you imagine that twenty-some years have flown by since our community came to be? During that time, a lot of use, wear, and fun have happened. Keeping maintenance on track, Facilities Committee volunteers have inspected all aspects of Four Seasons, identifying problem areas, equipment, streets, structures and buildings needing repair or refurbishment. Our management team has worked closely with the committee to keep Four Seasons in tip-top shape. But committee members only carry out inspections once per month. They can use your help! As you drive the streets, use the pool and other lodge facilities, keep a lookout for anything that needs to be refurbished or repaired. Found a safety issue or a tripping hazard? Have an idea for something new to help our community to be even better? How can you communicate your findings or ideas? By using our new Facilities Committee Form! The form is available on the Four Seasons homeowner's portal in the document section. You can use the form multiple ways: • Download it, fill it out on your computer then print it as a pdf and email it, or print it as a hardcopy • Download it, print it, then fill it out by hand • Stop by the front desk and get a printed copy to complete Turn your completed form in to the Front Desk. What happens aer the form is turned in? Your form is logged and acknowledged. Your concerns are presented at the Facilities Committee monthly meeting: • Safety or hazards are handled as quickly as possible. Repair/refurbishment are prioritized by need. An amazing number of repairs are handled by our own maintenance person. Other tasks may be put out to bid by approved vendors or specialty trades. Keeping a community of our size going is complex and requires planning. • New ideas are considered based on feasibility, resource requirements and community benefit. If the idea has merit, the committee presents it to the board for their input. This process is thorough and takes time. This considered process keeps our HOA running efficiently and our dues reasonable. So, fill out a form, get involved and you can be proud that you are helping keep Four Seasons thriving for the next 20 years.
