30 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | JULY 2024 | Golf Club From the President, Mike Caldwell: The Four Seasons Golf Club provided free group lessons for beginners and experienced Four Seasons residents on June 1 and June 8. The feedback from the players and the instructor, Joe Tretter, was extremely positive. I would like to thank Bob and Linda Morriss and Blair Becker who managed the event and the numerous club members who turned out just to watch. The Club is planning more group lessons later this year. Additionally, Four Seasons Golf Club has scheduled the first inter- club tournament for June 25. Golf clubs from the Four Seasons communities of Beaumont and Murrieta were invited to participate. The consensus was that the Four Seasons golf communities should schedule another inter-club event, perhaps in the fall. From the Vice President, Bob Morriss: More detail on Mike's comments: We had our first of two "free" golf lessons on June 1. We had 10 "beginners" and 12 "experienced" residents come out and improve their game and had another 20 or so signed up for June 8 lessons. As Mike said, our instructor was Joe Tretter, the Taquitz High Coach. His team won the league last year and his patience and attention to each student drew supportive comments from all the participants. We hope to have another round of lessons later in the year. We were pleased with the enthusiasm and commitment of all the participants. From Blair Becker: Thinking about joining the Hemet Four Seasons Golf Club? A little information: One doesn't have to be a single digit handicap to play with our club. We offer three flights based on handicaps, allowing everyone to be able to play at their level. Our club is made up of men and women members. Rusty Quindoza has rejoined the Club. Margie Hobs has joined as a social member (non-playing). In addition to playing golf on Tuesdays, the club also has a yearly banquet, social events, and barbecues. Besides playing golf, joining the club provides an opportunity to make new friendships. The players all convene for "happy hour" after Tuesdays' games. From the Tournament Chair, Elliot Yaeger: The July Schedule for the Hemet 4 Seasons Golf Club is as follows: July 2, 7:30 am - Team Scramble: Celebrating July 4 Independence Day Game – Red, White & Blue July 9, 7:30 am - Low Net by Flight July 16, 7:30 am - Partners Best Net Score per Hole July 23, 7:30 am - Team: Best TWO net scores per hole July 30, 7:30 am - Team Scramble… Minimum 3 tee shot From the Social Committee Chair, Meredith Becker: The Social Chair is out exploring new ideas for the Golf Club! Planning a Summer Pool and BBQ Night in early August, more details will follow shortly. It is not just about golf; it is also about making good friends! From the Rules Chair, Bill Swinney: Did you Know? Rule 10.1C Making a stroke While Standing Across or On The Line of Play Players may not make a stroke from a stance with a foot deliberately placed on each side of the line of play or an extension of that line behind the ball. Violations of this rule mostly occur on the green when a player misses a putt past the hole, then leans across or around the flag stick and taps the ball into the hole from the other side of the hole. The player is required to walk around to the other side and while standing "astride" the ball, putt the ball into the hole. We are fast approaching our second year in play with 37 members as a club in Four Seasons. We play singles and doubles formats every Wednesday morning starting at 8 am in summer or 9 am in winter. We have recently decided to play twice a week in the evening (5 pm). We have had a number of our (old farts) throw "four baggers" (four consecutive bags) in the hole by several of our dated members! Our main emphasis is having fun and the members have obliged. We are an eclectic group and we wish to find more cornholers. Come by and take a look on Wednesday at The Lodge patio! If you have any questions contact Beth Flanagan @ bflana603@gmail.com or call (858) 334-9779. Cornhole Healthy Living Healthy Living focuses on health-related printed materials that are shared with the class. As seniors, we need to be mindful of finding the "healthy road to travel." We are a support group and know that social interaction is also part of a healthy lifestyle. We meet every Wednesday at 9 am in the Bistro. If you have any questions about our program, please call Dave and Karen Tuvim, at (626) 710-7163.
