26 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | JULY 2024 | WIT (Women In Touch) The WIT ladies share a common bond – the loss of the love of their life. Our dinner meeting provides a special social interaction and helps to rekindle old and new friendships. The WIT Team gathers once a month in the Bistro for dinner. Our dinner orders are "called in" to the Bistro between 2 to 4 pm. When we gather at 5 pm, our orders are already being prepared and are ready to deliver to each attendee. We are a support group. Please accept our invitation to join us if you are a widow in need of a social connection and loving care. If you have any questions regarding WIT, please contact Brenda Beers at (951) 306-6670 or Jeanne Lincoln at (951) 765-7112. What did the Ladies do in May? We went to Pechanga. On May 21, we met with our lady friends at the small parking lot, gathered into our designated drivers cars and ventured out to try our luck at the slots. Oh my gosh, which one to choose? There were so many from dragons to butterflies, Wheel of Fortune, to TV shows. What a feeling, the suspense of waiting for the next spin as it kept us on the edge of our seats. To get our "adrenaline rush" down after an exciting time, it was off to the Olive Garden for lunch with their fresh bread sticks and never-ending soup and salad with our meals; many of us took advantage of their $6 "Take home Entrees" to take to our husbands and not have to cook dinner. During our filling lunch, we shared our slot machine stories. We were all in agreement — the slot machines were smarter than most of us. We didn't know why we won or why we didn't win if all the gold pots, dragons, or butterflies were all lined up; how could we have not won? What about these reward cards … why won't it work? I entered my pin number. One thing we all agreed, today's slot machines are not like they used to be when we were young. What happened to the cherries and the single line machines that, when we won, we knew why? And you put one or two or three coins in, but not 50 or 60 coins on each pull. Then, there's this paper we collect showing our winnings that we have to take to a machine to collect our winnings … then you have to figure out how to use THAT machine. This could have been a hilarious comedy movie. It was definitely a day we will all look back on and smile and laugh at the memories of the time spent with wonderful friends. We also gathered needed items for Pet Haven Center at our May meeting. Our four-legged friends are always in need of dog and cat food, cleaning items, paper goods, and more. Our liaison Linda Elliot is available to pick-up donations and continuously delivers them to the center. Want to know what we are planning for August?
