AFRICAN AMERICAN
CULTURE CLUB
On June 19, the Solera's African American Culture Club
(AACC) held its first Juneteenth celebration in Solera's Great
Room. A presentation of the official Juneteenth flag and
the meaning of the colors. A YouTube video of the truth of
when freedom came to Galveston, Texas in 1865. Members
and invited guest were treated to fresh fruits, home baked
banana bread and a delicious potluck breakfast prepared
by Solera residents. This was a wonderful and meaningful
celebration! The inclusion of educational elements like the
presentation of the Juneteenth flag and the videos about
the historical significance of Juneteenth, along with the
sharing of food, made it a great event.
On June 22, some of Solera's AACC members joined Four
Season's AACC for their Annual Juneteenth Celebration of
music, food and of course historical presentations. There
were over 140 people in attendance. ~ Willie Hill, Solera's
