4 | LIFE IN SOLERA | AUGUST 2024 | FROM THE LIBRARY: SORRY FOR THE MISINFORMATION IN OUR JULY MAGAZINE! Our Library volunteer, who has been taking books we no longer have space for in our library to the Beaumont Library bin, recently discovered that the Beaumont Library no longer has the bin available for books to be redistributed or recycled. The volunteer organization that has managed this project has closed the project and removed the bin. However, Deseret Industries in Calimesa still accepts donations of all types for their Thrift Shops, including books. It is a very nice thrift store. They are open to take donations from 9-5 Monday through Saturday. It's just off the Calimesa Blvd. exit from I-10. It has a Calimesa Blvd. address, but the drop off is behind the building off 5th Street. You drive up and they have someone to take your donations out of your car. They are very nice. Solera Library I'm very honored to have been appointed as the New Resident Welcome Advisory Committee chairperson. I'm also really excited to be a part of the important work the committee does in making a positive impact on our new residents' first experiences in Solera. I want to thank Marcia Casem for her 14 years of service on the committee, including as chairperson. I also want to thank the previous committee members for their service, Joanne Larson, Kathy Marchi, and Dale Van Camp. Continuing on the committee are Maragaret Bly, Amy Dietz, Sheila Kelly, and Jill Markman, as well as two new team members, Sylvie Escher, and Ronnie Zacker. We are busy developing some process improvements. The focus will still be on helping new residents feel welcomed into the community, and ensuring they are aware of the many amenities, clubs, events, and activities at Solera. We'll also encourage new residents to take advantage of the many resources we have, including the Life in Solera magazine, Solera website, email blasts, and text notifications to ensure they have access to the latest news and updates about everything going on in the community. We are looking for new members! If you enjoy meeting new people and would like to acquaint them with all of what Solera has to offer, please submit a Volunteer Interest Form at the office or contact me at (951) 499-7790 or mnbdewey@yahoo.com. Thank you! ~ Brenda Dewey, Chairperson, New Resident Welcome Advisory Committee Welcome Committee
